Program Overview

Learn why you should get phone insurance.

1-in-4 handsets meet with a sudden demise
More than a quarter of all wireless subscribers report that their phone was stolen, lost or damaged at some point. So why don't more people have a plan just in case something happens?

Limited offers are, well... limited
Don't be surprised when the low price you paid by extending your contract just isn't an option. Chances are you'll be expected to pay full retail. So if the thought of shelling out $200, $300 or more doesn't thrill you, then consider handset insurance.

"But I already have insurance"
While your handset may be covered by homeowner's or renter's insurance, there can be hidden costs to this kind of piggybacked coverage. First, you may have to purchase a rider and later, when you file a claim, you'll likely pay a steeper deductible as well. Plus, do you really want to hassle with a company that doesn't do handset replacement as its primary business?

What we offer
Insurance doesn't come "one size fits all." So eSecuritel's available coverage plans range in levels of protection.

  • Lost-Stolen-Damaged
Covers handset from loss, theft and accidental damage.
  • Malfunction-Failure
Technology has quirks. Eliminate stress and feel confident that your device will be there for you and stand up to intense usage. This program covers malfunction and mechanical/electronic failure after the manufacturer's warranty ends.
  • Comprehensive Coverage
A total peace-of-mind solution that addresses all the conditions of both lost-stolen-damaged and malfunction-failure.

How much does coverage cost?
Our program operates nearly the same as car insurance. To receive coverage you will pay a monthly premium. If you file a claim, and it is approved, you will pay a deductible specific to your carrier's program.

What happens when I lose or accidentally damage my phone or it gets stolen?
After your claim is approved and your deductible paid, it's time to receive your replacement phone.

Committed to service & convenience
At eSecuritel, handset insurance is our only business. So not only do we offer a wide array of protection options, but we also are committed to giving you concise, simple information and attentive customer service. Our subscribers love being able to go online to do it all; from initiating a claim or paying their deductible or tracking the shipment of their replacement phone. Or if they prefer, they can speak directly with someone in our customer service center.

Myths about handset insurance

  • In my experience, insurance like this barely covers anything. There is always a catch.
We'll gladly go over all the details of your plan, including premium and deductible cost, coverage and exclusions, and we'll do it prior to your enrollment or any time you have a question.
  • My phone's warranty already covers most of the things that can go wrong.
Think of it this way: Who gets called first after a fender bender? Not the car's manufacturer, right? That's because a manufacturer's warranty only covers defects. Insurance through eSecuritel covers loss or theft, plus accidental damage, which is what you need when something really goes wrong.
  • I've got homeowner's insurance/renter's insurance, so the last thing I need is more insurance.
We encourage you to clarify your coverage with your insurance company before making any assumptions. And don't forget to consider things like deductible and rider costs too.
  • It won't happen to me.
  • We honestly hope it won't. However, surveys show that 1-in-4 phones are lost, stolen or damaged. That's why we've priced peace of mind around the cost of a large cappuccino each month.
